ABSTRACT
Selection of bases is very crucial during the development of topical
semisolid preparations. In this investigation an attempt has been made
to compare the performance of carbopol gel and paraffin base in the
delivery of Clotrimazole IP. Developed formulations were subjected
for evaluation for the drug content, pH, spreadebility, extrudability,
viscosity,in vitro diffusion profile and in vitro antifungal activity.
Stability profile of developed formulations was subjected for
investigation. Results of investigation clearly proved the superiority of
carbopol gel base for the development of topical semisolid formulation
containing Clotrimazole.
Keywords: Clotrimazole, in vitro diffusion, spreadebility, viscosity.
