DIFFERENTIAL COUNT PATTERNS OF LEUCOCYTES AMONG ASTHMATIC PATIENTS WORKING IN GAS AND OIL REFINERIES IN KIRKUK, IRAQ

ABSTRACT
Background: The immunohistopathologic features of asthma include epithelial injury and infiltration of inflammatory cells, consisting of eosinophils, lymphocytes, mast cells, and phagocytes.[159-162] Inflammatory mediators released by these cells are the effectors of chronic inflammation. Methodology: Complete blood picture was done using automatic haematological analyzer Quintus (Boule medical AB, Sweden) according to manufacturer instruction. Results: It was concluded that basophils were elevated among asthmatic patients wheras eosinophils decreased. Conclusions: There was a significan difference between basophils of oil patients and control group.
