ABSTRACT
Objective: To evaluate the in vitro anti-inflammatory effect of
Ovoutoline liquid formulation against the denaturation of proteins.
Methods: The different concentrations of Ovoutoline liquid
formulation was incubated with egg albumin in controlled
experimental conditions and subjected to determination of absorbance
to retrieve the anti- inflammatory property. Diclofenac sodium was
used as the reference drug. Results: The presented findings exhibited a
concentration dependent inhibition of protein (albumin) denaturation
by the Ovoutoline liquid formulation. Conclusions: From the present
study it can be concluded that Ovoutoline liquid formulation possessed
marked in vitro anti – inflammatory effect against the denaturation of
protein. The effect was reasonably due to the alkaloids, flavanoids and
polyphenolic constituents present in the formulation.
