ABSTRACT
Some novel imidazole were synthesized and evaluated for antimicrobial,
anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity. The reaction of
benzoicacid compounds with ammonium thiocyanate and bromine in
glacial acetic acid yield 4-thiocyanatobenzoicacid.The title compounds
were synthesized by treating 4-thiocyanatobenzoicacid with ethylene
diamine and carbon-di-sulphide. Their structures were confirmed by
IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR. Antimicrobial activity against bacteria and
fungi, anti-inflammatory activity and analgesic activity were studied
for the synthesized compounds. Docking study was done and the
compounds IM1 and IM2 were found to fit well with the target protein
COX-1.
Keywords: Imidazole, thiocyanation, ethylene diamine, docking study in biological activity.
