DESIGN AND SYNTHESIS OF SOME 2-QUINOLONES FOR ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY
Sukhen Som*
ABSTRACT
A series of 2-quinolone derivatives were synthesized in a good to moderate yield. The structural characterizations for the synthesized analogues were performed by their analytical and IR, 1HNMR and Mass spectral studies. The compounds were evaluated for antibacterial activity by cup-plate method. Compounds 3a, 3b and 3c showed good activity against the bacterial strains compared to the standard drug. In the light of antibacterial studies it can be concluded that these derivatives can be utilized and investigated further for their optimum pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties.
Keywords: Quinoline-2-one, amines, DMF/POCl3.
