ABSTRACT
Effect of mulberry leaves enrichment with milk powder and Nival
solution (50ppm and 100ppm concentrations on growth and
characteristics of cocoon silkworm Bombyx mori L. were studied.
Silkworm larvae were fed on fresh mulberry leaves of shin-ichinose
enriched with supplementary nutrients frombeginning of 1 st instar
until end of 5st instar, once a day. Fresh mulberry leaves technique in
sericulture. Results showed that indicated that 100ppm food
supplement is the optimum dose for the better performance of rearing
and reeling parameters of silkworm Bombyx mori. The present study
was only an attempt to assess the influence of Milk Powder and Nival
solution which is used extensively as a food additive by virtue of its
nutritive and medicinal properties. Screening of such growth
promoting tonics that are readily available in the market may prove to
be useful in augmenting commercial silk production.
