ABSTRACT
Vasicine is one of the phytoconstituents present in Adhatoda vasica
(L.)Nees (Family: Acanthaceae) have been used in Indian systems of
Medicine for cough, bronchitis, bronchial asthma etc. In this present
study an attempt has been made to develop a HPTLC method for
quantitative estimation of Vasicine in different extracts (Alkaloid
extract, Methanolic extract and 70% Methanolic extract) and in
different samples of Asfre12[Laboratory sample (Alkaloid extract),
Commercial sample (Alkaloid extract), Laboratory sample (70%
Methanolic extract), and Commercial sample (70% Methanolic
extract)]. In this the alkaloid extract of A.vasica sample and laboratory
sample of alkaloid extract yielded more percentage of Vasicine.
Quality control and standardization was carried out in the polyherbal formulation (PHF)
Asfre12.
