ABSTRACT
A new method for the synthesis of substituted furfuraldehyde is detailed. Reaction was carried out by substituted aniline to substituted diazonium chloride salt at 0o C in the presence of sodium nitrite further Meerwin arylation reaction of diazonium chloride salt of substituted aniline with furfuraldehyde forms the different 5-( substituted phenyl)- 2-furfuraldehydes (IVa-k). The physical and spectral data of the synthesized compounds were obtained by melting point apparatus, IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy.
Keywords: Furfuraldehyde, Meerwin arylation, substituted anilines.
