ABSTRACT
Liver is major organ system physiologically involved in the metabolism and excretion of various xenobiotics, environmental pollutants etc. Consequently it is exposed to oxidative stress and free radicals. This results in the tissue necrosis and damage of this organ system. Thus hepatoprotective potential of methanol and petroleum ether extracts of Leucas aspera was evaluated by Paracetamol-Induced Hepatotoxicity and Thioacetamide-Induced Hepatotoxicity models. Estimation of Physical parameters, biochemical markers to assess liver functions and histopathological study shows that the root extracts of Leucas aspera have hepatoprotective potential.
Keywords: Liver, hepatoprotective potential, Leucas aspera.
