ABSTRACT
The different parts of Cassia fistula L. were screened for the antimicrobial activity against four different pathogenic microorganisms by agar well diffusion method. Cassia fistula L. is a medium sized, road side, deciduous tree having various medicinal properties. The extracts of different parts of Cassia fistula L. were prepared in distilled water, ethanol and benzene. The result revealed that among all extracts, the ethanolic extracts showed maximum antibacterial activity over the standard streptomycin. Thus, the ethanolic extract was found to be bacteriostatic and it can be used for drug development to control various bacterial infections.
