ABSTRACT
Four simple, sensitive, precise and accurate quantification methods viz., A, B, C and D have been developed for quantification of the Tamoxifen citrate . These methods are based on the interaction of the drug with Bromocresol green (BCG method A). Bromocresol purple (BCP method B) Bromophenolblue (BPB method C). and Bromothymolblue (BTB method D) , to form Chloroform extractable ion pair complexes which absorbs around 415 nm. The absorbance of this band increases with increasing the concentration of the drug and formed bases for the quantification of the drug. The complexes are found to have 1:1 composition as determined by Job’s method and the Job’s plots are also used to evaluate the stability constants of the ion
pair complexes. The factors affecting the absorbance of each method are optimized. All the methods have been validated in terms of ICH guidelines and applied for analysis of Tamoxifen citrate in pharmaceuticals.
