ABSTRACT
A new method using ciprofloxacin as a fluorescence probe for
determination of acetaminophen in the tablet was developed. The
inhibition effect of acetaminophen on fluorescence of ciprofloxacin
was discussed. Fluorescence emission conditions such as pH and
dosages of B-R buffer solution, and ciprofloxacin concentration, and
reaction time, were investigated and optimized. Interfering effects of
some excipients and potentially interfering ions on fluorescence
intensity were investigated. Under the optimized conditions,
calibration curve for the quenching value of fluorescence intensity
toward acetaminophen concentration was linear, with a correlation
coefficient (r) of 0.996. The LOD of 2.5×10–7 g/mL for acetaminophen
was achieved. The recovery for tablet analysis was 88. 4–96.9% with
the RSD (n=5) of 0.78–2.0 %. This method was rapid, simple, and
sensitive for the analysis of paracetamol tablet.
