Abstract

TECHNOLOGY OF QUERCETIN SUSPENSION IN MILK THISTLE OIL

Hamam Salih Badri Hamam*

ABSTRACT

Taking into account poor solubility of quercetin in most of solvents, we carried out research on development of composition and technology for oil suspension of quercetin. As stabilizers various concentrations of surfactants having hydrophilic – lipophilic balance (HLB) value not more than 7 were used: span-65, distilled glycerol monostearate (MGD) and saccharose distearate (Crodesta F10). While studying surface-active properties of the above-stated substances dissolved in milk thistle oil it has been established, that critical stabilization concentration of span-65 is 0,11 %, of MGD is 0,3 %, of saccharose distearate – 0,77 %. Thus, span-65 has the greatest superficial activity.
