ASSESSMENT OF GROUND WATER QUALITY ON THE BANK OF AMARAVATHI RIVER, KARUR TOWN, TAMIL NADU, INDIA

ABSTRACT
Groundwater samples were collected from different locations in and
around Amaravathi River, Karur town, Tamil Nadu. Twenty five
groundwater samples were analyzed for their physico- chemical
characteristics. The obtained results are compared with the WHO
standard. The samples were subjected to physico-chemicals analysis.
TDS, TH. EC, alkalinity Sodium, Nitrate, Chloride and Sulphate,
Phosphate, Dissolved Oxygen, Mg, COD, and DO values are exceeded
the permissible limit of WHO standards in most of the ground
groundwater samples.
