ABSTRACT
Dithranol belongs to the keratolytic category, which is widely used drug in the treatment of psoriasis. The drug is practically insoluble in water. Many conventional dosage forms for psoriasis treatment have been have been formulated earlier, but they did not show good results. Hence in the present study, it was attempted to formulate dithranol in the form of solid lipid nanoparticles. Solid lipid nanoparticles of dithranol were obtained by adaption of lipid dispersion method. The presents study aimed to prepare and characterize Solid Lipid
Nanoparticles (SLNs) from tristearin and soya lecithin incorporated with surfactant were mixed and formed by simple dispersion method. Appropriate analytical methods are needed for the characterization of SLN. The use of several analytical techniques is a necessity such as particle size which determined using laser diffraction particle size analyser 1064L cilas , France. percentage entrapment, percentage drug loading, percentage yield were calculated. transmission electron microscopy was done with electronic transmission microscope for analyzing the morphology of prepared solid lipid nanoparticles. In vitro release studies were carried out using the HIMEDIA dialysis bag. Data showed physical stability of the formulation. In conclusion, the SLN presented here are well suited for several applications including drug delivery.
