Abstract

EFFECT OF PHYSICO CHEMICAL PARAMETER ON THE BIODEGRADATION OF AZODYE FROM PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA

V.Pavani*

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Azo dyes are characterized by the presence of one or more R1 -N=NR2 (R1 and R2 may aryl or alkyl groups) bonds and are synthetic organic colorants that are widely used. In the present study, soil samples were collected from different parts of Bangalore. Microorganisms were isolated and were identified by colony morphology, staining, biochemical tests. 16s RNA sequencing studies was performed on the best isolate and it was found to be Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It was capable of degrading azo dye by enzymatic reduction. Different physical, chemical parameters, mutational studies have been performed for the optimization of the dye degradation.

Keywords: Azo dyes, Microorganisms, mutational studies.
