IN-VITRO ANTHELMINETIC ACTIVITY OF METHANOILIC EXTRACT OF MANGIFERA INDICA LEAVES

ABSTRACT
The present study was planned to evaluate anthelmintic activity of
methanolic extract Mangifera indica (leaves) against Indian earthworm
Phertima posthma. The study involves the determination of paralysis
time and death time of the worms in different doses of the extracts (20,
40, and 60 mg/ml). Methanolic extract of Mangifera Indica leaves
were show concentration dependent anthelmintic activity. Albendazole
at concentration 20 mg/ml was used as standard reference drug.
Preliminary phytochemical screening revealed the presence of
alkaloids, Carbohydrates, Tannins, Terpenoids and flavonoids in the
extracts.
