ABSTRACT

Floating matrix tablet which can prolong the gastric residence time after oral administration, at a particular site and controlling the release of drug especially useful for achieving controlled plasma level as well as improving bioavailability. Losartan Potassium is the first of a new class of drugs to be introduced for clinical use in hypertension. It is an orally active, non-peptide angiotensin II receptor (type AT1) antagonist. Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) represent an important therapeutic advance in the blockade of the rennin-angiotensin pathways.
