BIOTRANSFORMATION OF COUMARINS BY SACCHAROMYCES CEREVISIAE
Edijane Matos Sales, Tânia Fraga Barros and Eudes Da Silva Velozo*
ABSTRACT
This work describes the coumarins reduction (xanthotoxin and braylin)
mediated by Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains in biphasic systems.
The biotransformation of these compounds was regioselective and it
allowed the formation of 5,6-dihydro-9-methoxy-7H-furo[3,2-g][1]
benzopyran-7-one and 3',4'-dihydrobraylin.
Keywords: Biotransformation, biorreduction, braylin, regioselectivity, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, xanthotoxin.
