ABSTRACT
Larvicidal effect of an anthranilamide insecticide on the pre-adult stages (I –IV instar larvae and pupae) of medically important mosquitoes viz., Aedes aegypti, Anopheles stephensi and Culex quiquefasciatus was investigated. Change in the rate of pupation and emergence of Culex quinquefasciatus grown in sub lethal medium of the insecticide was also observed. Toxicity of the insecticide was expressed in LC50/24 hours. LC50/24hours values of the toxicant to the larvae of Cu. quinquefasciatus showed their susceptibility at 0.00745, 0.0142, 0.01663, 0.01663, 0.02722 and 0.03404% of the insecticide. The data of median lethal concentration indicated that younger larvae were more susceptible
to the insecticide than the older ones. The Cu.quinquefasciatus larvae reared in sub lethal media of the insecticide (0.001, 0.002 and 0.003%) showed remarkably low pupation rate and emergence.
