ROLE OF SHAMANOUSHADI IN THE MANAGEMENT OF SUB CLINICAL HYPOTHYROIDISM - A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The modern era is witnessing dramatic increase in the incidence of endocrine disorders. One such common endocrine disorder is Hypothyroidism. The incidence of Hypothyroidism is rising rapidly, it is estimated to have affected 2-5% of global population .The prevalence of Hypothyroidism in Urban India is 10.95%. The highest prevalence is noted in people aged 46 to 54 years and majorly in females. It leads to a lifelong pathological events and makes the affected person to remain dependent on hormonal replacement throughout his life. Thus, there is an increasing demand to understand the disease in view of Ayurveda and to establish the management through Ayurvedic system of medicine. Materials & Methods- A female patient aged 47years diagnosed with Subclinical Hypothyroidism 1 month ago not on any medications came to Kayachikitsa OPD of JSSAMH with the Puffiness of face, Non pitting oedema in bilateral foot, Dryness of skin in whole body, Reduced appetite and Intolerance to cold since 3 months and TFT value showed slightly raised in TSH and normal T3 & T4.She was advised to undergo Panchakarma, as patient refused she was prescribed only Shamanoushadi for 3-5 months. Observations and Results- After continuous follow up for 3 -5 months, patient was advised for TFT in which all the values were in normal level and symptoms in the patient reduced up to 80%.
