A REVIEW 0N PATHYA APATHYA IN PANCHAKARMA

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda is a holistic science of life that aims in promoting, preserving the health of an individual and aids one from prevention of diseases. Pathya means the substances or the behaviour which is not only tolerated but that which is useful to the individual for his sound mind and body. In other words, those drugs and regimens which are not harmful to channels and which have pleasing effects on the mind can be considered as Pathya. Pathya plays equal role in management of any disease; hence it is considered as the prime part of treatment making it essential for the one suffering from the diseases to follow dietetic rules and regimens in order to jump apart from the circle of ailments. The concepts of Pathya, Apathya in mode of ahara vihara (diet and lifestyle) which were priorly mentioned by our Acharyas in past are much relevant and significant in the present era.
Keywords: Pathya means the substances or the behaviour which is not only tolerated but that which is useful to the individual for his sound mind and body.
