PHARMACODYNAMICS PROFILE OF RODHRADI GANA FOR STAMBHANA ACTION: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Rodhradi Gana is the 6th Gana among the 37th gana listed in SushrutaSamhita. It includes Lodhra, Savara lodhra, Palasha, Shyonaka,Ashoka, Bharangi, Katphala, Elvaluka, Shallaki, Jhingini, Kadamba,Sala and Kadali. Total 13 medicinal plants act as Stambhana, curesYoni Roga, alleviates Kapha, improves colour and acts as antidote topoisons and Medo dushti. Most of them having Kashaya (astringent) &Tikta (Bitter) Rasa, Ruksha (rough) & Laghu (light) Guna and Sheeta(Cold) Veerya and may be act as Stambhana dravyas and are chieflyuseful in conditions like Diarrhea and vomiting. A present reviewwill help to give information about dravyas of Rodharadi ganacorelation with Stambhana karma on the basis of pharmacodynamicsproperties.
