A REVIEW ON PYRIMIDINE SCAFFOLD

ABSTRACT

Pyrimidine is a bio-active heterocyclic compounds containing two nitrogen atoms, each at position 1 and 3 of the six-membered ring respectively. Most of the pyrimidine derivatives showed diverse range of biological activity profiles. Several derivatives such as methotrexate and 5-fluorouracil etc. have been approved for clinical use in cancer chemotherapy. The purpose of the review is to provide an overview of synthetic methods, spectral properties and biological activity profiles ofsome substituted pyrimidines.
