AN OVERVIEW ON IRRIGATION IN ENDODONTICS

ABSTRACT
Endodontic success is characterized by the triad of biomechanicalpreparation, pulp space disinfection and three-dimension obturation.Irrigation is considered the primary means of cleaning and disinfectionof root canal system. The function of irrigation includes detritusflushing, canal lubrication, tissue dissolution, removal of smear layerand antimicrobial action. Delivery of the irrigants using a syringe andneedle and activation by the ultrasonic file are the most popularirrigation methods. This review focuses on armamentarium and variousirrigants in endodontic practice.
