A SUCCESSFUL MANAGEMENT OF VIPADIKA KUSHTA W.S.R TO PALMOPLANTAR PSORIASIS – A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT
Skin is the protective organ of the body which has the function of perceiving senses like pain, touch, temperature, pressure etc. Ayurveda noted most of the skin diseases under the broad heading Kushta. Vipadika is one among such disease which has been included under the heading of Kshudra kushta. It is characterised by Pani – Pada Sphutanam (fissures either in palms or soles or in both), Theevra vedana (severe pain). Vipadika is correlated with Palmoplantar psoriasis, which is a variant of psoriasis that characteristically affects the skin of palms and soles and produces significant functional disability. Modern Intervention often takes a long time to work as adverse effects is noted with increased chance of recurrence. The present case is about successful Ayurvedic management of a patient complaining of dryness, cracking of both soles associated with burningsensation, pain, bleeding since 2 years treated with Shodhana, Alepana, Raktamokshana followed by Shamana in short duration of 30 days with significant improvement of quality of life and no signs of relapse.
