ABSTRACT
Jasminum sambac (L.) is a South Asian folkloric medicinal plant thathas traditionally been used to treat as Pittprashamana. It is an importanttraditional flower crop widely cultivated in the Southern and Easternparts of India. Although more than 2,000 species are known, 40 specieshave been identified in India and 20 species are cultivated in SouthIndia. Jasminum sambac (Oleaceae), commonly called Jasmin,phytochemical investigation of J. sambac validated the existence ofproteins, glycosides, coumarins, flavonoids, phenolics, resin, saponins,steroids, terpenes, ascorbic acid, essential oils and salicylic acid.
