ANALYTICAL METHOD DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF GLIPIZIDE IN BULK AND TABLET DOSAGE FORM BY UVSPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD

ABSTRACT
A new, simple, accurate, and precise zero-order derivativespectroscopic method was developed and validated for the estimationof Glipizide in bulk and Tablet dosage form. The stock solution wasprepared by weighing 100 mg of standard Glipizide in a 100 mlvolumetric flask with 0.1N KOH. The stock solution was made toproduce 1000 μg/ml with 0.1N KOH. Further dilutions were preparedas per the procedure. The drug solution showed the maximumabsorbance at 275 nm. The linearity was found in the concentrationrange of 6-30 μg/ml. The correlation coefficient was found to be 0.999.The regression equation was found to be Y = 0.0314x + 0.0043. Themethod was validated for linearity, accuracy, precision, ruggedness,robustness, LOD, and LOQ. The LOD and LOQ for the estimation ofGlipizide were found to be 0.359 μg/ml and 1.06 μg/ml respectively.Recovery of Glipizide was found to be in the range of 103-108 %. Theproposed method was successfully applied for the quantitativedetermination of Glipizide in bulk and Tablet dosage forms.
