EVALUATION OF ANTIBIOTICS PRESCRIBING PATTERN IN PAEDIATRICS USING WHO INDICATORS AT A TERTIARY CARE TEACHING HOSPITAL

ABSTRACT
Even in spite of the fact that anti-microbial resistance is one of themost genuine dangers to worldwide open wellbeing, it is getting to bemore common due to improper anti-microbial endorsing designs.Hence the reason of this study is to survey the medicine design of antimicrobialsand To assess the utilize of anti-microbials in thedepartment of Pediatrics utilizing WHO Prescribing Indicators. ThisProspective study conducted at, SNMC and HSK hospital and researchcenter Bagalkot. Age >16yr are prohibited. Completely 110 casescollected in which The most frequent antibiotic prescription involves72(38.50%) Ceftriaxone, 21(11.22%) Amoxicillin clavulanate and16(8.55%) Amikacin. Out of 70 medications interventions made,58(82.85%) acknowledged and rest 12 (17.14%) not acknowledged.Upon our intervention, specialists made changes in medication treatment in 20(28.5%)casesand no changes in sedate treatment for 38(54.28%) prescriptions. In our study averagenumber of drugs per encounter is 7.47%, percentage of antibiotics prescribed by genericname is 29.77%,percentage of encounters with an antibiotic prescribed 100%, percentage ofencounters with an injection prescribed is 99% and percentage of drugs prescribed fromessential drug list or formulary is 100%. The study concludes that the treatment regimenexecuted in most of the cases is without doing any culture sensitivity test which may lead toirrational use of antibiotics.
