DIVULGING RAJA NIGHANTU THROUGH DRAVYAGUNA ASPECT

ABSTRACT
In Ayurved, Nighantu is the foremost classical literature in the field ofDravyaguna which gives thorough explanation of medicinal drugs.Lesser morphological data about the medicinal herb was available inthe Samhita's period, but Nighantus’ arrival made a noteworthy movein the zone of Dravyaguna Vigyana in terms of identification of drugthrough morphological description along with the properties andactions. Raja Nighantu is one of important Nighantus which provesessential in the field of Dravyaguna. It is composed by Shri NarhariPandit of Kashmir. The system of Nomenclature on the basis of 7factors i.e. Rudhi, Swabhava, Desha, Lanchana, Upama, Virya,Itrarahvya is exclusively mentioned in the Raja Nighantu. ThisNighantu contains 23 Vargas which includes some special Vargas likeManushyadi and Simhadi Varga. In the 10 Vargas, 698 herbal drugsare mentioned. The present review study aims to explore the Raja Nighantu which can provebeneficial for study and research, as well as prevention and treatment purpose.
