ABSTRACT
A simple, sensitive, accurate and rapid caloremetric method were
developed for the estimation of Flupritine in pure and capsule dosage
forms. Flupritine react with MBTH to form a wine red coloured
compound. Flupritine maleate contain free amino group that oxidised
with Fecl3 solution and form a wine red coloured with the MBTH
reagent and the coloured complex which can be estimated by
colourimetrically. The colour of the solutions were measured the
absorbance at 530.5 nm. Sandell’s sensitivity, molar extinction
coefficient, slope, intercept, LOD and LOQ were determined. The
percentage recovery was found to be 101.21 ± 0.25. The proposed
method was accurate, precise, reproducible and economical for the
routine analysis of Flupritine in bulk drug and in formulation.
Keywords: Flupritine, MBTH, distilled water UV? visible spectrophotometry.
