A REVIEW ON PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF TWO DIFFERENT PLANT LEAVES OF PSIDIUM GUAJAVA LINN. AND LAWSONIA INERMIS LINN.

ABSTRACT
It is a well-known fact that Traditional Systems of medicines always played important role in meeting the global health care needs. Many drugs which are derived from the different parts of plants i.e. leaves, roots, bark, flowers, fruits, seeds. Are capable to treat the various conditions in human beings. Psidium guajava L. commonly known as guava, is the member of family Myrtaceae, Psidium guajava L. exhibits following properties, diarrhea, dysentery, antimicrobial, antioxidant, hepatoprotection, anti-allergy, antimicrobial, antigenotoxic, anti-plasmodial, cytotoxic, antispasmodic, cardioactive, anticough, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive activities. Lawsonia inermis L. commonly known as Heena, is the member of family Lythraceae, exhibits following properties, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiparasitic, hepatoprotective, antifungal, antitumor, hypoglycemic and wound healing. In the phytochemical screening Psidium guajava L. revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, phenols, amino, glycosides, steroids and carbohydrates. Lawsonia inermis L. revealed the presence of alkaloids, tannins, phenols, glycosides, steroids and carbohydrates. The aim of this review was to collect all available scientific literature published and combine it into this review. Present review comprises the pharmacological and phytochemical potential of two different plant leaf extracts of Psidium guajava Linn. And lawsonia inermis Linn which are responsible to show neurobehavioral activity.
