A REVIEW ON THE APPLICATION OF MICRONEEDLE DELIVERY SYSTEM IN THE MANAGEMENT OF NEUROPATHIC PAIN
Deepak Kumar* and Naresh Kalra
ABSTRACT
Neuropathic pain is a debilitating condition characterized by chronic pain resulting from damage or dysfunction within the somatosensory nervous system. Microneedles (MNs) have recently emerged as a novel method for drug delivery that could revolutionize the treatment of neuropathic pain. MNs are tiny needles, typically less than 1 mm in length, that can penetrate the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin, to deliver therapeutic agents directly into the dermis or epidermis without causing significant pain or discomfort. This review will focus on the mechanisms of action, types, advantages, challenges, and current research.
Keywords: Microneedle, neuropathic pain, targeted delivery, efficacy, nanoparticles.
