ABSTRACT
Gridhrasi is a Vatavyadhi, which affects the Kandara and Snayu of both lower limbs. The symptoms of Gridhrasi are described as Ruk, Toda and Stambha spreading to Kati Pradesha (Low back), Prushtha (back), Janu (Knee joints), Jangha (Calf muscles) & Pada (Dorso lateral aspect of feet). The condition makes raising of the leg difficult. Gridhrasi responds well to Basti since it is Vatavyadhi. Basti is given with Bastiyanthra which consists of Bastinetra and Putaka. These days, enema cans/douche sets are frequently used for Basti administration. Only passive or gravity force is involved in the commonly employed enema-can, active pressure is anticipated to be applied on the Bastiputaka in the previously mentioned classical technique. The purpose of using bladder for Basti putaka is to ensure uniform contractility with uniform flow. In olden days usage of Basti as putuka was possible and justified, but now a days it is not practiced. As an alternative to Bastiputaka modified Basti putaka is made. In thisstudy five participants diagnosed as Gridrasi were selected and Erandamooladi niruhabasti is given with modified Basti putaka method in Yogabasti pattern. Then it was compared for assessments and results. All the results were analysed statistically for Pvalue using Wilcoxonsigned rank test. This study showed that, Erandamooladi Niruhabasti given with modified Bastiputaka has significant improvement in relief from the symptoms of disease and improvement in range of movements.
