A CROSS SECTIONAL STUDY ON KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICES OF ENNAI MUZHUKKU (OIL BATH) AMONG YOUNG ADULTS IN TIRUNELVELI DISTRICT, TAMILNADU

ABSTRACT

Health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity- preamble to the Constitution of the World Health Organization, 1946. Nowadays, due to lifestyle changes there is very low rate of people following the ancient traditional methods and living a healthy life. Siddha system of medicine which treats patients by holistic approach has framed a set of rules under the name “PINIYANUHA VIDHI” in the book Pathaartha guna sinthamani. All the vidhigal framed under the verses are to be followed by every individual for hale and healthy life. Out of all the vidhigal (rules) mentioned, Ennai muzhukku is being studied in detail in this study to bring out awareness on practicing Ennai muzhukku and to assess the intensity of how theancient rituals are being conducted to following generations and how they are being followed. So the study is aimed at bringing and assessing the Knowledge and Practices on Ennai muzhukku among young adults in Tirunelveli District, Tamilnadu from the period August 2022 to November 2022.
