Abstract

UNVEILING THE POTENTIAL OF VISHAGARBHA TAILA: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Aushadha is a integral component of the Trisutriya Ayurveda and Ayurveda is our prestigious science of life. Similarly, as a part of chikitsa chatushpada in Ayurvedic classics importance is given to Aushadha. Success of any Bhishak or Vaidya depends on the quality of Aushadha(drug) used. A lot of Ayurvedic drug preparations are mentioned in classical text, Vishagarbha taila is one effective medicine explained by Acharya for external application in vata-related disorders such as Pakshaghat (hemiplegia), Sarvangagraha (stiffness and tightness in all limbs), Hanustambha (Trismus/Lock Jaw), Manyastambha (Torticollis), and Trikgraha (lumbo-sacral stiffness). Review of Vishagarbha taila were done from classical Ayurvedic text, Total 11 references of Vishagarbha Taila found in Classical texts. External application of medicated oil facilitates quicker and betterabsorption of drug through permeability of membrane of the transdermal drug delivery system. In different types of vishagarbha Taila (oils) are available in market but LVT most commonly used by Ayurvedic physicians for local application.
