A COMPREHENSIVE NUTRITIONAL GUIDE FOR ACHIEVING OPTIMAL WELLNESS

ABSTRACT
The purpose of the present paper is to briefly present current food and nutrition intake trends. A good deal of research evidence from different countries indicates that consumption of specific contents of nutrients, particular types of foods or overall dietary patterns is beneficial to the health of people and helps control incidence of most of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). In order to provide a better context for the current concept of the healthy diet this review outlines the features and the clinical and epidemiologic evidence of the diets that have been conceptualized to prevent disease and enhance health. Nutritional components integrate into our body as components where they can modulate the gut bacteria, immune system and metabolism. The style of nutrition has also been found to determine the incidence and the nature of such common ailments as heart disease, chronicdiseases as well as diabetes. Several studies have revealed that increased intake of red and processed meat result in high cancers especially colorectal cancer. Food and health is an essential aspect that is central to the provision of human health. People require food in their daily life to survive, but lack of proper food, excessive food or wrong type food usually causes harm to their health. In current days, there are vegan diet and ketogenic diet which has received a lot of attention. The vegan diet can be viewed to come with added health benefits due to its richer content in dietary fibre, folic acid, vitamins C and E, potassium, magnesium and many phytochemicals besides coming with a fat content that is unsaturated. Keto diet also referred to as ketogenic diet entails consumption of high fat, moderate protein and low carbohydrates.
