ABSTRACT

AIM: The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of patient reported experience measures (PREMs) and to identify strengths and areas for improvement in healthcare delivery, ultimately contributing to better patient outcomes and enhanced care quality. Objective➢ Collect Patient Perspectives: Assess patient views on their care experience, including communication, satisfaction, and issues encountered.➢ Evaluate Treatment Effectiveness: Measure treatment success against goals and analyze its impact on patient quality of life.➢ Assess Protocol Adherence: Review adherence to hospital protocols through documentation, audits, and observations to ensure compliance with guidelines.Methodology: The study was conducted at KIMS Hospital,Secunderabad, across all departments to provide a comprehensive assessment of patient experiences. Over a six-month period, a survey-based approach was utilized to collect data from a sample size of 350 participants. Patients were selected using a systematic sampling technique and were interviewed with the Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) questionnaire. Before participation, a brief explanation of the study's purpose was provided to the patients, and informed consent was obtained through their signatures. Additionally, the demographic details of the participants were recorded to contextualize the findings and ensure a thorough analysis of patient experiences across various demographic groups. Conclusion: This study evaluated patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) at a tertiary care Hospital to identify strengths and areas for improvement in care delivery. By analyzing patient feedback, treatment effectiveness, and protocol adherence the CAHO PREMs tool effectively captures detailed provided insights into both positive aspects and areas needing enhancement. The findings highlight the value of PREMs in revealing gaps in communication, education, and safety, advocating for a more patient-centered, transparent, and safety-focused approach to improve care quality and patient outcomes.
