CLINICAL STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF CHATURBEEJA CHURNA (POLY-HERBAL AYURVEDA POWDER) IN THE MANAGEMENT OF PRIMARY DYSMENORRHEA (UDAVARTINI YONIVYAPATH) – STUDY PROTOCOL

ABSTRACT
Background: Primary Dysmenorrhea, Is the most commongynaecological problem faced by women during their reproductiveperiod which causes significant discomfort and anxiety for the womenas well as her family. This condition manifested as painfulmenstruation, is the most frequently encountered gynaecologicalcomplaint and it can be included under Udavartha Yonivyapath, causedby Apana Vata Vaigunya described in Ayurvedic classics. As thecondition has significant effect on quality of life, personal health andworking hours and there are several limitations and adverse effects inmodern medicine, its Ayurvedic management is of great importance.This clinical study investigates the efficacy of Ayurveda interventionsof Chaturbeeja Churna, a poly-herbal powder used in PrimaryDysmenorrhea (Udavartini Yonivyapath). Objectives of the study: Toevaluate the effectiveness of Chaturbeeja Churna in the managementof Primary Dysmenorrhea (Udavartini Yonivyapath). Materials andMethods: The present trial has been approved by the IEC (JSSAMC/1114/2022-23) and dulyregistered in the clinical trial registry of India (CTRI/2024/02/062406). Thirty subjects, agegroup 18-32 years, diagnosed with Primary Dysmenorrhea (Udavartini Yonivyapath), will berecruited from various centres in and around Mysuru, Karnataka. Results: Assessments willutilise the subjective parameters and VAS (Visual Analogue Scale). Statistical analyses,including the Wilcoxon signed rank test & Friedman’s test with Bonferroni correction, will beemployed to evaluate the results. Conclusion: In spite of its high prevalence and impact onday to day activity, it is often inadequately treated and even neglected, given that, manyyoung females prefer to suffer silently, without seeking medical guidance. This study aims toprovide insights into the potential role of Ayurveda in this condition which will help inenhancing the quality of life for woman and their families with a holistic approach.
