ABSTRACT

Today's fast-paced modern lifestyle has resulted in changes to eating habits and lifestyle choices that alter metabolism and give rise to an abundance of metabolic disorders. High blood pressure is among them. In 2000, about 26.4% of adult people across the globe suffered from hypertension; by 2025, that number had been anticipated to rise to 29.2%. There isn't a clear explanation of hypertension in Ayurveda. When dealing with an unidentified medical condition, the physician should try to understand it through various methods, such as Dosha, Dushya Samprapti, Upashaya, Anupashaya, Prakruti, Srotas, Aavarana and so on. In modern hypertension, different signs and symptoms are explained in different text books, and in Ayurveda classics, different authors in contemporary and Ayurvedic text books explain different conditions that can be correlated to hypertension. Therefore, this research paper demonstrates genuine efforts to understand hypertension. It is necessary to understand hypertension in terms of Ayurveda to better understand the concepts and its prevention and management.

Keywords: Hypertension, Ayurveda, Dosha, Dushya, Srotas, Metabolism.
