TREATMENT OF GASTRIC ULCER AND AN OVERVIERW

ABSTRACT
Gastric ulcer (GU) is the most common health concern that occurs due to alcohol consumption, smoking and physiological stress. Ethanol-induced GU in animal model resembles the pathophysiology of human ulcer. The present study involves evaluation of the antiulcer activity of the polyherbal formulation (PHF) in rats.: The antiulcer activity of the polyherbal formulation (PHF) was evaluated using ethanol induced gastric ulcer model. Efficacy was assessed by determining the ulcer index, percent ulcer protection profile, PH level and histology of the stomach. Omeprazole was used in standard treatment groups. Results: Administration of the polyherbal formulation offered significant protection against ethanol-induced ulcer model. Overall, this reviewarticle focus on the tested PHF, which was found to possess significant antiulcer activity in ethanol induced ulcer model. The mixture of extracts and the developed tablet formulation showing good antiulcer activity.
