ABSTRACT
Alcohol-induced hepatoxicity, majorly occurred due to chronic intake of alcohol, leading to various liver disorders which range from from fatty liver (steatosis) and alcoholic hepatitis to cirrhosis, representing huge extent of liver damage. The condition arises from toxic effect induced by alcohol on liver cells, causing fat accumulation, fibrosis and inflammation. Therapeutic management of Alcohol induced hepatoxicity, majorly depends upon the extent of liver damage which causes hepatitis, cirrhosis and fatty liver. Corticosteroids are majorly uses for ALD treatment but due to poor acceptability, continuing mortality, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha identification as an essential component involved in pathogenesis, recent studies majorly focus on antitumor necrosis factor and pentoxifylline to neutralize cytokines in the therapeutic management of chronic alcoholic hepatitis. Overall, this review article majorly focuses on the alcohol-induced metabolic dysfunction mechanism, contribution to liver pathogenesis and targeted therapy.of alcohol-induced hepatoxicity.
Keywords: Antitumor necrosis factor, Cytokines.
