AYURVEDA APPROACH OF MANAGEMENT OF YONIKANDA W.S.R. BARTHOLIN’S CYST & ABSCESS

ABSTRACT
Yonikanda is a disease of yoni pratham avrit or lower vagina in which protuberant round or irregular structure found on lower vaginal wall in female local treatment and is easily curable. Clinically we can correlate Yonikanda to Bartholin's cyst or Bartholin's abscess, vaginal endometriosis and vulval ulcers. But among them here we correlate it with Bartholin’s abscess, that can occur at any age, however, it is more common in women of reproductive age group are more vulnerable. About 2% of females develop Bartholin’s cyst and abscess at some point in their life. Modern treatment is hot compress, analgesics, antibiotics & marsupialization. After this also recurrence rate of Bartholin cyst and abscess occurs in some patients. In Ayurveda management focuses on holistic approaches such as the administration of Aamrasthi yoga, both orally and locally. Granthihara and shothahara chikitsa can also be prescribed in Yonikanda. This treatment regimen has demonstrated effectiveness in resolvingYonikanda without the need for invasive procedures like marsupialization or surgical incision and drainage. Due to very little description in Ayurveda classics, it is slight hard to equate Yonikanda with modern gynecological disorders. In this article, we tried to explain the mode of action of classics medications & sthanika chikitsa that is described in Yonikanda as well as collection of many cases with their medications that was given in daily OPD clinics for Yoni kanda. Main aim of this review study is to explore similar disease mentioned in modern texts for Yoni kanda & its treatment by Ayurveda which can also prevents from its recurrence.
