AYURVEDA - A POSSIBLE BOON IN CARCINOMA

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is the oldest known medical science which through apt diagnosis and comprehensive treatment thrives even in this competitive era. Optimum health is the state in which all living creature hanker, in search of this not only the people even the cells in our body go through a lot of stress and try to maintain the cellular health and integrity through sustained growth, transport, metabolism, reproduction and programmed cell death. Whenever there is alteration in one of these processes a disease condition instigates and when all of these processes are hampered it leads to the unrestrained disease called cancer. Cancer is one of those conditions that are hyperproliferative, involving transformational dysregulation, apoptosis, invasion, with angiogenesis and metastasis. The WHO has stated cancer to become the deadliest challenge of 21st century. Ayurveda provides new approaches to cancer. Acharyas mentioned a special reference in the Shastras with regard to the terrible disease cancer. Through this article the treatment modalities, specific treatment regards to cancer along with practical utility of Rasoushadhis and herbal drugs which even includes the recent research with respect to cancer cells, the result of cell line study against different type of cancers are explored which are the boon for the science of ayurveda.
