PHARMACOGNOSTICAL ANALYSIS OF BRUHATA GOKSHURA PHALA (FRUITS OF P. MUREX LINN.) W.S.R. TO MICROSCOPY

ABSTRACT
Background: A Bruhata Gokshura Phala (Fruits of P. murex Linn.) is well known Ayurvedic medicinal herb. Every part of this plant is very much useful in different kind of disorders like, Mutrakrichha (dysuria), Prameha (Diabetes), Kasa (Cough), Shwasa (Asthma), Hridaroga (Cardiac disorders) etc. but fruits of it are typically used for Aphrodisiac property and in urinary disorders. Presently Gokshura having number of verities, so it is difficult identify proper one and then authentify it. That’s why in present study Bruhata Gokshura Phala (Fruits of P. murex Linn.) were taken for the study to identify it through pharmacognostical analysis. Material & Method: Fresh fruits were collected from the plant and it was collected from the periphery of Madhupur beach, Junagadh, Gujarat, India Observation: Different kind of studies like Morphological characters, Macroscopical study, Organoleptic study, Microscopical study, Powder microscopical study has been done. Discussion: In every study different kind of proper observations has been observed e.g. in microscopy of Bruhata Gokshura Phala (Fruits of P. murex Linn.) bilocular ovaries, glandular trichomes, epicarp, mesocarp, endocarp, vessels etc. Conclusion: Bruhata Gokshura is highly adulterated drug, so it is an attempt to identify it properly through pharmacognostical parameters. As given in discussion in pharmacological study typical structure seen which may not available in different varieties of Bruhata Gokshura Phala (Fruits of P. murex Linn.).
