PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYTICAL STUDY OF SINDOORADYA MALAHARA

ABSTRACT
Instroduction: Malahara is derived from root word ‘malham’ taken from unani system of Medicine. Malahara Kalpana is a topical medicament meant for external application, other applications are Lepa, Upanaha etc. Sindooradya Malahara is a herbo-mineral preparation comprising of Siktha Taila, Tankana and Girisindura. It is described as a best medicament to remove pus, kill germs and effectively does Vrana Shodhana & Ropana. This study is taken up to pharmaceutically prepare and analyze Sindooradya Malahara. Materials and methods: Sindooradya Malahara is a simple, easy to prepare formulation consisting of Siktha Taila, Shuddha Tankana and Girisindoora. Observation and Results: Sindooradya Malahara is thick with smooth consistency. It has to be rubbed with bit pressure in order to spread on the skin. On application leaves orange stain and is sticky. Discussion: Tankana and Girisindoora were added to siktha taila when lukewarm. After adding Tankana and Girisindoora toSiktha Taila it was triturated continuously for few minutes, so that malahara gets smooth consistency without any gritty particles in it. Organoleptic and preliminary analysis of Sindooradya Malahara was done. Conclusion: Sindooradya Malahara is a simple, easy to prepare formulation. Obtained pharmaceutical and analytical data would pave a path for future clinical study.
