CONCEPTUAL STUDY OF DIGESTION (AWASTHA PAKA) ACCORDING TO AYURVEDA & IT’S MODERN ASPECT

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda considers Ahara, Nidra, Bramhcharya as Pillars of life.[1] Ahara being the foremost plays an important role in health of an individual. Acharya Shushrut, in his text stated that the state of equilibrium of Doshas, Agni, Dhatu, Mala & peaceful state of all the senses is considered as healthy & not merely the absence of diseases.[2] According to Acharya Charak, Ahara is the deviser of health as well as diseases. Ayuvedacharya‟s have devoted considerable space for the concept of nutritionalogy in their texts. Ayurveda emphasises, Prana Vayu as the supervisor of digestive procedures which resides in the Shira while modern science states Nervous system & endocrine system controls the same. The above correlations are dealt here for better understanding.
