ABSTRACT
Thymoquinone (TQ) is a significant bioactive chemical found mostly in Nigella sativa. TQ worked as protecting organs against toxicities including the brain, kidney, lung, liver, heart, gastrointestinal tracts, and reproductive system. TQ possessed antioxidant, lipid-lowering, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities, as well as anti-bacterial, anti-fungicidal, anti-hepatoprotective, nephroprotective, hypoglycaemic, immunomodulatory, and anti-hypotensive characteristics. TQ has conclusively demonstrated that it is a multi-target inhibitor, exerting its chemo-preventive and anticancer effects by inhibiting a range of pathways involved in carcinogenesis, tumour growth, and metastasis. Several successful experiments of TQ have been conducted to boost bioavailability by modifying the chemical structure and generating nanoparticles for molecular targeted forvarious diseases.
Keywords: Phytochemical, isolation, thymoquinone, bioactivity, anti-cancer, anti-bacterial.
