AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF ARDHAVBHEDHAK W.S.R. TO MIGRAIANE – A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Migraine is an episodic headache disorder usually characterized by pain involving either half of the head. Ardhavabhedaka is mentioned under Shiroroga (Diseases of head) which can be correlated with migraine. Migraine constitutes 16% of the primary headache and affects about 10-20% of the general population. A 36 years old female patient visited OPD of Shalakya tantra, GAMC, Bengaluru and presented with chief complaints of severe headache involving half side since last 2 years and episodes of headache was 4-5 in one month associated with nausea and photophobia. The condition was diagnosed as Ardhavbhedhak [migraine]. Patient was treated with Guda nagar nasya, internally Pathyadi Kashaya and Shirashoola vajrari rasa. Total treatment period was 52 days. Before and after treatment patient was assessed. Ayurvedic Management with inclusion of Panchkarma procedures like nasya along with internal herbomineral medications have helped immense to get rid off the symptoms.
