ABSTRACT
Ayurveda, a time-honored healing practice with global acceptance, is founded on its own principles and distinctive diagnostic treatise. It categorizes diseases into four types based on prognosis, underlining the significance of prognostic knowledge for effective disease management. Prior to commencing treatment on a patient, the evaluation of disease prognosis holds utmost importance. Various fundamental principles are employed for assessing Sadhyasadhyatva, one of which is Doshpaka and Dhatupaka. Madhavacharya elaborates on this in Jwara Nidan Adhyaya. Understanding Pakwa Doshas and Doshapaka symptoms aids physicians in making informed treatment decisions and adhering to treatment timelines. Doshapaka serves as a marker for disease reversal. Similarly, familiarity with Dhatupaka, which involves tissue/cellular destruction and its role in disease formation, is crucial for physicians. Knowledge of tissue/cellular destruction and its symptoms assists in devising an appropriatetreatment protocol and managing tissue/cell destruction and suppuration effectively. This critical analysis sheds light on how the assessment of Doshapaka and Dhatupaka Lakshana contributes to evaluating the Sadhya-asadhyatva of a disease.
